The Netherlands market

Amsterdam remains one of Europe's top interconnection markets and the Dutch are unusually disciplined about energy and sustainability reporting. Expect operators to ask about the carbon intensity of your travel and whether your materials carry an EPD.

We mobilise from Amsterdam and Rotterdam with a target of 6 hours to site. Amsterdam and Rotterdam hubs give six-hour mobilisation. Overnight windows 23:00–05:00 CET are standard for tenant-impacting work.

How we deliver rack & stack here

Rack build-out in Netherlands is measured against NEN-EN 50173 and NEN-EN 50174, and the detail that decides a sign-off is usually mechanical: rack orientation against the containment envelope, correct blanking, and cable entry that does not fight the airflow. Our teams work to 6-hour mobilisation from Amsterdam.

  • Rack positioning and levelling verified against the facility's containment layout before any equipment is unpacked
  • Blanking panels fitted to every unused U — a routine omission that measurably raises inlet temperature in Netherlands's higher-density halls
  • Cable entry from overhead tray or underfloor, matched to the facility's own routing convention rather than imposed on it
  • PDU mounting and phase balance recorded per rack, with 230/400 V, 50 Hz feeds confirmed before power-on
  • Weight and seismic/floor-loading checks where the facility specifies them

Standards and compliance in Netherlands

Work is signed off against the standards that actually apply here, not the ones our engineers are most familiar with. In Netherlands that means NEN-EN 50173 and NEN-EN 50174 as the primary reference, with iec 61935-1 certification as the test regime.

Site safety runs under VCA certification. We supply certificates before mobilisation rather than on request.

Standards applied on site

  • NEN-EN 50173 and NEN-EN 50174 for cabling
  • NEN-EN 50600 for facility design and operations
  • NEN 1010 and NEN 3140 for low-voltage installation and safe operation
  • EU GDPR under the AVG, supervised by the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens
  • BIR/BIO where the customer is government or a government supplier
  • CSRD sustainability reporting for in-scope operators

Site access and safety

Amsterdam facilities are escort-heavy and camera-controlled. Named engineer lists 24 hours ahead is normal; some require a Dutch-language work permit for non-EU staff.

  • VCA certification for contract staff on operator and industrial sites
  • NEN 3140 competent-person rules for work on or near live electrical parts

Local questions

Working in Netherlands

Are your engineers VCA certified?

Engineers working on Dutch operator and industrial sites hold VCA-B or equivalent. We provide certificates before mobilisation rather than on request.

Can you report on the carbon cost of a call-out?

Yes. We record travel distance and mode per job and can report embodied and travel carbon per intervention, which supports CSRD and Scope 3 reporting.

Do you work in Dutch with site staff?

Yes where it matters. Technical work is commonly run in English in Amsterdam facilities, but our engineers can brief building staff and write incident notes in Dutch.
