The France market

Paris is a top-five European interconnection market and Marseille is a major subsea landing point for routes into the Mediterranean, Africa and Asia. French operators expect French-language documentation and are strict about habilitation électrique.

We mobilise from Paris and Marseille with a target of 8 hours to site. Paris and Marseille hubs give eight-hour mobilisation. French sites commonly close works in August — plan major projects around it.

How we deliver rack & stack here

Rack build-out in France is measured against NF EN 50173 and NF EN 50174, and the detail that decides a sign-off is usually mechanical: rack orientation against the containment envelope, correct blanking, and cable entry that does not fight the airflow. Our teams work to 8-hour mobilisation from Paris.

  • Rack positioning and levelling verified against the facility's containment layout before any equipment is unpacked
  • Blanking panels fitted to every unused U — a routine omission that measurably raises inlet temperature in France's higher-density halls
  • Cable entry from overhead tray or underfloor, matched to the facility's own routing convention rather than imposed on it
  • PDU mounting and phase balance recorded per rack, with 230/400 V, 50 Hz feeds confirmed before power-on
  • Weight and seismic/floor-loading checks where the facility specifies them

Standards and compliance in France

Work is signed off against the standards that actually apply here, not the ones our engineers are most familiar with. In France that means NF EN 50173 and NF EN 50174 as the primary reference, with iec 61935-1 certification as the test regime.

Site safety runs under Habilitation électrique (B1V, B2V, BR, BC). We supply certificates before mobilisation rather than on request.

Standards applied on site

  • NF EN 50173 and NF EN 50174 for cabling
  • NF EN 50600 for facility design and operations
  • NF C 15-100 for low-voltage electrical installation
  • EU GDPR supervised by the CNIL
  • HDS certification requirements where health data is hosted
  • ANSSI guidance and SecNumCloud where the tenant is public sector
  • NIS2 through the French implementation

Site access and safety

Plan de prévention must be agreed before intervention on occupied sites. Photo ID and a signed engagement de confidentialité are standard.

  • Habilitation électrique (B1V, B2V, BR, BC) matched to the work
  • Plan de prévention for contractor intervention on an occupied site

Local questions

Working in France

Do your engineers hold habilitation électrique?

Yes, matched to the task — B1V or B2V for execution, BR for intervention, BC for consignation. Certificates are supplied before mobilisation.

Is the documentation in French?

Yes. Test results, handover notes and the procès-verbal de réception are produced in French, with an English version on request.

Can you work on HDS-scoped infrastructure?

We work to the handling and traceability controls an HDS-certified host requires, and we can sign the confidentiality and processing agreements. We do not hold HDS certification ourselves and will not imply it.
